Technical Guidelines

Copywriting is as technical practice as it is a creative one. These are the technical rules CONNECTIVE Agency follows in our content creation.

  • We follow AP style in all our writing, meaning no Oxford commas or
    capitalized job titles
  • We use active voice whenever possible
  • Our headings and headlines are written in Title Case
  • The ampersand (&) is only used in titles, not as a replacement for “and”
  • An ellipses (…) is used for missing sections in quotes, not as a replacement
for punctuation at the end of a sentence
  • The em dash is welcome – but should be used sparingly

Blogs

Blog content that utilizes the brand voice, tone and technical guidelines.

Example 1:

Make Sales with Stories, Not Pitches

Obviously there’s a time and a place for your business pitch, but that typically comes down the road after you’ve established a relationship with your prospect. To build a relationship in the first place, you need to share stories. Every brand has a story to tell as much as they have a product or service to sell. Start collecting case studies, client testimonials and impact results of the work your organization is doing and keep those at the core of your sales messaging. Let’s resolve to be storytellers over salespeople this year.

Example 2:

Nice to Meet Ya

According to a Glassdoor study, 75% of job seekers are more likely to apply for a job if the employer actively manages their brand. Ignoring or neglecting your online presence, one of the biggest aspects of an employer’s brand, is no longer an option. By taking the time to develop a fully articulated and cohesive message of who your organization is, you can effectively market yourself to top talent.

Your company is full of great professionals who get the job done – ensure your online “face” matches that. In addition to creating job listings on third-party recruitment sites and job boards, invest in building out a careers site. A careers site gives you a space where you are in complete control of your brand and the user experience. You can use this space to tell your story, shine a light on company culture and collect traffic and engagement data that can be used to further improve how you recruit.

Websites

Website content that utilizes the brand voice, tone and technical guidelines.

Example 1:

Every point of contact builds your brand.

A visit to your website. How you engage on social media. A story about you in the news. What reviews say. Word of mouth. These impressions are important and lasting. They make people feel a certain way about your organization.

We help companies create authentic connections to build their brand.

Example 2:

Execute

We are masters of excellence in execution. We love the launch, the implementation and generating the results. We believe that great creativity is only as good as the impact it makes in execution. Our teams are focused on implementation with a high degree of accountability and care.

Social Media

We’re adding “farming” to our capabilities!

The CONNECTIVE team got our hands dirty at Bonton Farms, an incredible organization that seeks to disrupt systems of inequity in South Dallas through programs focused on job creation, economic empowerment, access to healthy foods and housing. We spent the morning working in their gardens, helping them prep for next season’s crops – and meeting some new furry (and feathery) friends!

Doing good in our community is one of CONNECTIVE’s core values and we believe in giving back to our neighborhoods right here in Dallas whenever we can. We’re privileged to work with organizations like Bonton who are on the ground, making a difference every day. Thank you for having us, Bonton!
